Dhelk Dja Agreement

The agreement was drafted by the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum (formerly known as the Indigenous Family Violence Partnership Forum) to build on the latest 10-year plan – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families: Towards a Safer Future for Indigenous Families and Communities (2008-2018). Impact on the results of the reforms of the Dhelk Dja agreement: following the Royal Commission, the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum has developed a new ten-year agreement: Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families. Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families, is an Aboriginal agreement to address domestic violence in Aboriginal communities. The principles underlying the reform have influenced our strategy to develop Aboriginal-based and culturally safe services. The Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum is responsible for the management of the Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families and its action plans. The Regional Indigenous Domestic Violence Coordinator supports the Dhelk Dja Action group and works closely with Aboriginal communities and wider non-profit organisations to implement the Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way ~ Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families (2018-2028). Activities in this priority area are likely to have the greatest impact on achieving results in the following areas of the FVOF: it is an Aboriginal-led Victorian agreement that obliges partners to cooperate and be responsible for the need for Aboriginal people, families and communities to live more, more safely, prosperous and without domestic violence…
